Q&A

DEFINE YOUR AESTHETIC:

↳ I enjoy moving between aesthetics depending on how I feel and where I’m going. My book, The Style Thesaurus, covered nearly 100 different aesthetics, so I’m fascinated by the way visual identities shift, evolve and communicate meaning.

WHAT UNIQUE QUALITIES DO YOU BRING TO THE FASHION AND TEXTILES INDUSTRY?

↳ I bring a deep and interdisciplinary understanding of the industry, shaped by my experience as a magazine publisher, marketing communications strategist, brand storyteller, fashion researcher, fashion business journalist and author. My work connects fashion with culture, subculture, communication and business strategy.

WHAT DRIVES YOU TO TEACH?

↳ Nothing motivates you to understand a subject more deeply than teaching it. I enjoy developing curricula that push boundaries and equip students with both established business theories, models and frameworks, and cutting-edge case studies from the contemporary industry.

WHAT IS YOUR TEACHING PHILOSOPHY?

↳ I believe in breaking down complex concepts and helping students learn how to apply them. My teaching aims to motivate students to want to learn, while giving them the tools and confidence to engage in independent, self-directed study.

CAREER HIGHS:

↳ Publishing The Style Thesaurus, which has now been translated from English into French, Italian and Chinese, is a major career highlight. I’m also proud of my Vogue Business Advisory research projects with Google, IBM and Snapchat, and I have another book forthcoming in 2026.
